Carbineros (Red Spanish Shrimp). Price per 2.5 pound. Great red shrimp from Spain.Characteristic even and intense red colour, deeper on head and tail. Elongated and stylised rostrum armed with three dorsal teeth, like a small crest. At the back, the rostrum is also slightly prolonged and keel-like, with the so-called crest reaching the cervical groove. The carapace is smooth in texture, except for the rostrum, the lateral grooves of the cephalothorax which give it a “wrinkled” look, and the crested edges of the abdominal segments. The antenna and the antennules are very long, three times the body length. Sexually, they are dioecious (of separate sex), and fertilization is internal.
