Production and use

Truffle honey is the sweetest form in which truffles can occur. Truffle honey is the addition of honey with grated or sliced truffles. With a truffle slicer, or alternatively a knife, the truffle is cut into small pieces and mixed with honey.

Depending on your preference, different types of honey can be used. The acacia honey is popular and well-known. In some regions, acacia honey is obtained from the so-called "false acacia", the Robinia. The honey is characterized by its high fructose content and is perfect for sweetening appetizers and desserts. Since the truffle is an exceptional ingredient and should not be mixed with cheap products, this native honey is perfect.

Storage

In addition to its fine taste, honey also lingers a particularly long time before it crystallizes. Since honey offers many benefits in its natural form, it will remain long-lasting and tasty without effort. Honey is stored best, like many others in a cool, dry, dark and especially important a place that is odor neutral. Too high temperatures and direct sunlight can affect the enzymes present in the honey and thus change its original shape and taste. Because the honey is hygroscopic, it absorbs moisture. It is penchant to accept the smells and tastes of other substances as it has a nice quality that can be given special consideration during storage. The taste of the truffle in its entirety should be protected from other cooking odors and the like.

What are the differences with truffle honey?

The quality and the taste depend largely on the honey and truffles chosen. The honey must not outweigh the truffle with its own taste but should emphasize the flavor in the best case. The taste experience is also dependent on the truffle and the mixing ratio. There are kinds of honey that are mixed with white or black truffles. Which truffle is right for you is up to personal taste.

More widespread is the use of truffles. You should also always pay attention to whether additional flavors were used to upgrade the honey. A high-class truffle should usually bring enough flavor and aroma so that it can be dispensed with additives.

Why is truffle honey good?

Truffle honey can refine many dishes. Appetizers are as much an experience as the cheese platter for dessert due to the natural sweetness and the aroma of the noble mushrooms.
